Plast-Box: new packaging projects based on PCR material

Plast-Box S.A., an acclaimed manufacturer of plastic buckets in Europe, has increased the production scale of its packaging with post-consumer recycled (PCR) waste. We encourage customers to increase the use of PCR materials in their products, given their improved environmental sustainability. More and more European businesses which use buckets and pails for non-food products are opting for PCR-based packaging.

Many companies in Europe are including sustainable solutions in the design of new products, such as the use of raw materials from post-consumer recycled waste recirculated by chemical processing. The European market clearly shows where the future lies, so in the coming years we plan to increase the share of PCR material in our products,” says Artur R. Skonieczny, Sales Director of the Plast-Box Group.“Customers expect compliance with the assurance of maximum PCR content in the packaging structure. This solution is not always possible. The PCR content in Plast-Box packaging solutions is currently reaching 60%, with the mechanical performance of the products not compromised in any way.

Another project being implemented with PCR materials by Plast-Box S.A. is the packaging made for Tippland, an Irish manufacturer of fertilisers and soil conditioners. Rapid Grow is a seaweed-improved, environmentally friendly organic fertiliser – a packaging solution made with PCR plastic pellets was a natural choice for this product. The pail, like all packaging products made by Plast-Box, is also 100% recyclable.

The increasing use of recycled materials in the production of packaging is an important step being taken by Plast-Box to increase the share of recyclable materials in its manufacturing business. As part of its long-term strategy, the manufacturer intends to produce more and more packaging from renewable raw and recyclable materials, thereby reducing the use of natural resources. This direction is perfectly aligned with the company’s vision of circular economy.
